For the last few years, I've taken the time to design our own Christmas cards. This year with Thanksgiving so damn close to Christmas, the dates really crept up on me. And after a minor cold snap on turkey day, we're back to unacceptably warm temps and I'm not happy about it. In spite of it all, the 2013 version is finally out! Behold, an Italian theme with none other than dear Cleveland at the center of it all.
A simple table of bread, wine and a pile of honey coated struffoli, a Neapolitan Christmas classic. Growing up, it wasn't Christmas until my mom and I started rolling these tiny balls of dough, frying them up and dressing them with colored nonpareils. They were guaranteed year after year but I haven't made them in a really long time now. They are painstakingly tedious but I miss them and I think this year will be the season of their return, it's been too long.
I also want to take a moment tell anyone that has received a Christmas card from us in the past to, "please lower your expectations." I upgraded my computer a few months ago and I somehow managed to lose all of my Christmas list addresses. So my sincerest apologies if a card doesn't reach you in the mail this year but on the bright side, I'm reducing my carbon footprint, so there's something for you to be joyful about.
Here's a look back at Jones Christmas cards of years past. The cats didn't make it in this year but I assure you they are alive and well. I just wasn't satisfied with them in the scene no matter how may ways I tried to add them, sorry kitties.
